a walk through the valley of the shadow of death

beyond the end of the world, there is a post office. 

this is a game about writing letters to leave at that post office, letters written as passports for souls embarking into gehenna ("the valley of the shadow of death") - the experience that stretches out between life, death, and life again.

it is a solo letter-writing rpg, designed to be played with only a pen, some paper, and perhaps an hour or two of your time that can be set aside for the contemplation of death; an interactive memento mori.

this game contains themes of death and loss of all kinds. you may choose to forego violence, gore, suicide, murder, illness, or other personal stressors, but the pressing reality of the end and the grief it leaves those who it has yet to touch are unavoidable topics for this game.

this game owes no insignificant part of its existence to anna anthropy's "letters that will never arrive", for showing me that writing sad, strange letters for people who would never read them, by yourself, could be a beautiful and transformational thing, and that that thing could also technically be called a game.
